LA Clipper fans began to question John Wall‘s fit on the roster through a rough start in his preseason debut. Although he appeared in great shape, Wall did not look comfortable on either end of the floor. Furthermore, he was turning the ball over, taking tough shots, and not facilitating the offense.

After his second preseason showing against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wall reassured Clipper fans why he is seen as the missing piece. Not only was Wall scoring the ball, but he was showing flashes of himself at the peak of his career. The burst and explosiveness of Wall is something the LA Clippers have been missing for quite some time.

Additionally, Wall’s fit with the starting rotation is near perfect. He plays exceptionally well alongside the superstar talents of Leonard and George and the interior dominance of big man Ivica Zubac. Let’s not forget the three-point shooting of players like Robert Covington, Marcus Morris, Luke Kennard, and many more.

Within the coming weeks, head coach Tyronn Lue will have to decide who will be the starting point guard in the primary rotation. This will be an extremely tough task for Lue, as the three-level scoring guard, Reggie Jackson, can also manage the starting duties. Despite who starts the season off at point guard, the rotation is subject to change over the next few months.

John Wall showcased what he can bring to the table in his second preseason game for the LA Clippers.

Throughout the upcoming season, John Wall may be one of the most critical players on the LA Clippers’ roster. His contributions will be much needed as Lue and the coaching staff aim for a run to the NBA Finals. On both ends of the court, the LA Clippers will rely heavily on Wall to make the right plays leading to easier buckets.

These responsibilities should not be a problem for Wall, as he made his impact clear in the LA Clippers’ preseason match-up versus the Minnesota Timberwolves. In only 20 minutes played, Wall posted 20 points and three assists while shooting 5-11 from the field and 100% from the free-throw line.

Moreover, Wall displayed a move that looked quite familiar in his time with the Washington Wizards. The amount of pressure that he applies on the rim is seemingly unreal. Whether the LA Clippers are in their half-court set or transition, Wall consistently attacks the basket, which results in wide-open shots around the perimeter. These play-making duties take away pressure off the shoulders of Leonard and George.

If Wall can stay healthy, the LA Clippers can easily win over 50 games this season. This is bound to happen, as Lue recently led his squad to a 42-win season before losing in the play-in tournament. In addition, Wall is the ideal point guard for Lue’s scheme. As the LA Clippers plan to utilize their small-ball lineup this season, Wall will likely see more opportunities as time goes on.
