The LA Clippers reportedly made exploratory calls to the Detroit Pistons to see the price of veteran point guard Derrick Rose.
According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the LA Clippers were one of several teams to call the Detroit Pistons about Derrick Rose. However, Haynes notes that this call was just a common exploratory call, likely to get an idea of his trade value.
The two teams who seem actually interested in acquiring the former All-Star are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers. Both teams are contenders in their respective conferences but, like most teams, want to upgrade their scoring.

Rose is having a solid year for Detroit. He’s putting up 18.4 points per game – his most since his ACL injury – and is adding in 5.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds in his 26.1 minutes per game. The Pistons are likely sellers at the trade deadline with Blake Griffin out for the season and Andre Drummond reportedly unhappy.
For the Clippers, all we can infer is that they are doing their due diligence. The team is currently second in the Western Conference at 30-13 but have only had their superstar duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George on the floor for 18 of those contests.
Many have pointed out that the team could use another playmaker (something Rose doesn’t provide) and height. Some have suggested swaps for Aron Baynes and even Joel Embiid (still a dumb idea on so many levels) while others want more wing depth such as Thaddeus Young or even Andre Iguodala.
While obviously none of those moves have materialized yet, fans should keep their eyes open. With the track record of this front office, we have to expect the unexpected.
There are only 16 days remaining until the trade deadline. Will the Clippers end up making a move or will they stand pat with the roster? We’ll keep you posted, so make sure you follow along on both Twiter and here at Clipperholics!
