Former Clippers starter without a job clearly deserves to be signed

While free agency has been at ease, a major holdup that briefly stalled the market was Bradley Beal's buyout with the Phoenix Suns. It had grown a pair of legs and began to walk, but nothing officially took off until earlier this week when everything was finalized and he signed with the LA Clippers.

Moreover, players connected to the Clippers, one way or another, are out on the job hunt. Chris Paul, a fan favorite, is expected to sign with LA, and others, such as Brandon Boston Jr., Bones Hyland, and Amir Coffey, have received interest and will likely end up playing somewhere before the NBA's opening night.

Another former Clipper, who has been unreasonably forgotten, is Landry Shamet. The laser-perfect, top-notch, premier sharpshooter is still available after last playing, and contributing to the New York Knicks' 2024-25 campaign, which did not end up in a championship, but went as far as the Eastern Conference Finals.

He was 27, now 28, on his one-year deal with the Knicks, where he averaged 5.7 points and 1.2 rebounds, shooting 46.1% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range. In fact, only one of his seven seasons after being drafted from Wichita State has ended with a three-point percentage under 36%.

Additionally, Shamet shot 46.7% from three for the Knicks in their memorable playoff run, knocking down seven out of 15 attempts.

That said, Shamet deserves minutes somewhere in the NBA, as he is an elite three-point shooter and has experience in various roles, which could greatly help a rebuilding franchise and its future goals.

Landry Shamet is a former LA Clipper who has no reason for being unsigned weeks into free agency

Most remember Landry Shamet's stint with the LA Clippers because of the iconic three-point shot he drilled in the historical playoff comeback against the Golden State Warriors. Still, every member of the fanbase knows him as a gifted bucket from long range.

His perfected jumper, similar to Luke Kennard's, has a place in the NBA, and an excellent destination for him, if not the Clippers, would be the Orlando Magic, one of the 2024-25 worst three-point shooting teams.

Although adding Desmond Bane helps, his presence has a capacity. Hence, signing Shamet will benefit the rotation, as he can come off the bench and unleash his full potential, while also coaching up players like Anthony Black and Jalen Suggs.

Nonetheless, Shamet is one of the more overlooked talents still not signed, and some team should give him a chance due to what he has to offer.
