Every team in the NBA would do everything within reason to employ a player with Nicolas Batum's experience and skill set. He is on a discounted deal, is great in the locker room, and does his job without any ego. This is why fans highly respect him, and he will be remembered as one of the best role players in franchise history.
However, Batum is 36 with a player option this summer. As he will eventually retire from basketball, the Clippers need a replacement who can play similarly.
Batum has been a defensive menace throughout his first and second stints with the Clippers. When opponents try to score on him, nothing but positive outcomes are presented, and on offense, he is a consistent, forty-percent three-point shooter.
Furthermore, options are available, but the Clippers' front office must be careful with spending to conserve their budget. This clears several suitors but one, who currently plays for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Santi Aldama, a talented former first-round pick, is a power forward with whom the Clippers should negotiate thoroughly. His game is a carbon copy of Batum's.
Santi Aldama could easily become the LA Clippers' next version of two-way stud Nicolas Batum
By progressively learning, growing, and being willing to improve, Santi Aldama is an exceptional role player on the fifth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies. He has established himself by striding in a big way without Ja Morant starting.
In 56 games this year, Aldama is averaging 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists, shooting 48.8% from the field and 37.6% from a distance.
Aldama also recorded a career-high in points this season in a win against the San Antonio Spurs, scoring 29 in 30 minutes off the bench.
Moreover, Aldama is a restricted free agent this summer. This allows him to sign by choice, but the Grizzlies will have a time frame to match any deal. If both parties are eager to unite, executive Lawrence Frank should put together an offer sheet between $10 million and $20 million per year.
Additionally, with an increased salary cap, the Clippers could have another MLE ready to be handed out. Depending on his desired price, this money will attract free agents like Aldama.
To no surprise, NBA teams were notified that the salary cap in 2025-26 is expected to increase 10% from this past season, sources tell ESPN.

The current projection is the same that were given to teams in the offseason.
Salary cap: $154.6M
Luxury tax: $187.9M
First apron:…
That said, a 24-year-old Aldama is the right player to spend on, as he can follow in Batum's tracks. He is still developing into his final form and has plenty of time before his peak.
