Kevin Durant was traded elsewhere, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker may have prioritized more money in his choice to sign with the Atlanta Hawks, yet the LA Clippers have still had their best offseason in years. They were set up perfectly at the deadline, and though fans were excited about the moves Lawrence Frank made in February, no one could have predicted him doubling down in the summer, leading to continued perfection.
Last summer, they lost Paul George, whom most saw as irreplaceable, even if Derrick Jones Jr. and Kris Dunn were added. These were the two best additions, and other necessary moves were made, like trading Russell Westbrook.
However, this summer, with Brook Lopez signed and John Collins acquired, the Clippers are expected to continue adding for the next two seasons, while a majority of their cap space will be available for the 2027 offseason, which appears to be historic.
Moreover, to become the clear winners of the 2025 offseason, triumphing over the Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Hawks, the Clippers must be the first team to call the agents and representatives of Bradley Beal, once he is officially bought out.
Beal’s era with the Phoenix Suns is likely over, which was tarnished by his no-trade clause, but he would still make for a perfect fit with head coach Tyronn Lue under Intuit Dome. This is the shocking reality for LA, as they have the money (mid-level exception) to replace Norman Powell’s three-level production.
The LA Clippers’ A-plus offseason would be capped off by signing Bradley Beal once he becomes an unrestricted free agent
Bradley Beal’s injury concern is evident, but John Collins carries similar issues, and that did not hold the LA Clippers back from trading for him. This proves the Clippers are willing to take the risk, as they know how easily attainable a championship would be if no major injuries were to occur in one season.
Furthermore, Beal is worth more than the $5.3 million LA has in cap space, but he will likely accept co-existing next to two future Hall of Famers, and possibly three, if Chris Paul tags along.
This season, 2024-25, Beal averaged 17.0 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds, shooting 49.7% from the field and 38.6% from a distance.
These contributions replicate what Norman Powell did, and with John Collins and Brook Lopez, the Clippers would transform themselves into a powerhouse in the Western Conference, claiming the title as offseason winners.
