As the LA Clippers have played addition and subtraction with a number of talents, it feels like forever ago when Terance Mann was a part of the team. However, he was with the Clippers until the 2025 trade deadline, before LA traded him to the Atlanta Hawks. Time passed, and Atlanta realized he was not a good fit on their bench, so he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets, where he is at home yet appears to be falling off even more.
In the city they were raised in, players typically play with more passion and intensity, and though Mann is on the court trying to win over every opportunity in Brooklyn, Jordi Fernández’s system is curated for core pieces such as Michael Porter Jr., Cam Thomas, and Nicolas Claxton.
Thus, Mann could see his third new home in less than a year if traded in February once again. From this point, it will be challenging to recover career-wise, as the Brooklyn native is traveling the United States, plugging his game into different schemes, and exiting with disappointment.
The Brooklyn Nets may shop Terance Mann at the trade deadline
The Brooklyn Nets have the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference, and their starting guard is Terance Mann. He was excellent in October, though Brooklyn lost every game, but soon encountered a hurdle of adversity that seemed impossible to clear in the season of giving thanks.
Furthermore, Mann has not been shooting the ball well, with field goal and three-point percentages of 39.8% and 33.3%, respectively, in November. He has had several games with concerning efficiencies and five games of five or fewer points in the same one-month window, showcasing a drastic difference from when he was an LA Clipper.
However, the Nets may not be able to hit the jackpot as the Clippers and Atlanta Hawks did. Somehow, both teams received a viable package for Mann, but because his contract exists through the 2027-28 season, and is fully guaranteed, Brooklyn may just receive a salary filler and late draft capital.
From there, Mann will be at ground zero, trying to make his way to one hundred, following two failed stops extremely close together in time. Conversely, the Nets’ front office could also take the risk and keep him, hoping his stock rises by the summer with a consistent minutes count dispersed by Jordi Fernández.
Nonetheless, Mann was an integral part of a generational cultural change in LA. Though he will forever be a fan favorite for Clipper Nation, his career is taking a massive turn that will eventually become irreversible.
