Through free agency, many former members of the LA Clippers, who no one could possibly forget due to the memories they left behind, don’t currently have a job in the NBA. Some guys on this list include James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Amir Coffey.
But, in a similar topic of conversation, are the names that have been forgotten by many fans of the Clippers worldwide. That’s no problem, though, as three of them are discussed below.
3. Garrett Temple
In 2018-19, Garrett Temple played for the LA Clippers for 26 games post-trade deadline. He was expected to be a wing that could shoot three-pointers, play defense, and provide a veteran presence in the locker room, as that’s what he was doing for the Memphis Grizzlies that same season.
Unfortunately, Temple wasn’t more than someone who could guard his position, which led the Clippers to move on in the following offseason.
Since then, Temple has spent time with the Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, and most recently, the Toronto Raptors.
Because he’s 39 and didn’t have much of a role in Toronto on the court, signs don’t point towards him being on an NBA contract by the start of the upcoming season.
2. Jeff Green
In 2016, the LA Clippers were high on Jeff Green, who was in his prime at 29 years old, prior to the trade deadline. As a result, the Clippers traded Lance Stephenson and a protected first-round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for the high-flying, versatile forward.
Green arrived in the Clippers, and in 27 games, including 10 starts, the former champion averaged 10.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists, shooting 42.7% from the field and 32.5% from beyond the arc.
Based on these numbers, one can assume he was a good role player, but not someone the front office should go above and beyond to bring back.
Well, LA didn’t. After the Clippers, Green has been on a handful of teams. He recently played for the Houston Rockets, and at 39, is now someone whose best attribute is his experience.
1. Mason Plumlee
Mason Plumlee was supposed to rescue Ivica Zubac; before the LA Clippers acquired him from the Charlotte Hornets for Reggie Jackson and a second-round pick, the Croatian star didn’t have much help from the second unit.
In 23 games after being traded, Plumlee was actually very good. He averaged 7.5 points and 6.9 rebounds, shooting 72.7% from the field, then proceeded to step his game up in the first-round series versus the Phoenix Suns, in which the Clippers lost.
As expected, the Clippers re-signed him to a one-year, $5 million contract.
However, Plumlee suffered an MCL injury in 2023-24. This forced the Clippers to sign Daniel Theis, and by the time he returned to the court, the 33-year-old couldn’t necessarily find his way back into the rotation.
In 2025-26, Plumlee was part of the San Antonio Spurs, which made it all the way to the NBA Finals. His contributions were mainly behind the scenes, and at 35, he’s seeking his next opportunity to apply his experience to help an organization.
