Though the LA Clippers had a rough start to the year, they seem to have solved most of their issues. Players are knocking shots down, hustling on defense, and showing fewer signs of carelessness. This can be very encouraging for a variety of reasons. However, the main one is that head coach Tyronn Lue is working extremely hard behind cameras to make history.

Furthermore, the main issue thus far has been a need for more depth at the center position. While Lue may have seven-foot big man Ivica Zubac, there is no established big man behind him. This will only lead to problems as the season progresses. It is still early in the year, so the time may have come for the Clippers’ front office to make a roster move.

That said, Sam Amico of HoopsWire recently reported that the LA Clippers might form a trade with the Atlanta Hawks. As of late, the Hawks have had two players in and out of trade rumors, John Collins and Clint Capela. Both players could benefit the Clippers, but only one fits best.

Moreover, the shot-blocking star Clint Capela would significantly help what the LA Clippers are aiming to build. Not only does Capela swat shots at the rim, but he is also one of the best rebounders the league has to offer. This addition would be perfect for the Clippers, who stand at 22nd in the NBA in rebounds.

Hawks big man Clint Capela would be gold for the LA Clippers.

With the way the season has begun, the LA Clippers desperately need help at the center position. There is no better trade target to go after than a highly underrated shot-blocker in Clint Capela. He would be the ideal backup center to Ivica Zubac, giving the team much less pressure to handle.

So far this year, Capela is averaging 11.1 points and 11.8 rebounds on 61.8% from the field. Additionally, he is blocking 1.5 shots per game in only 27.2 minutes. While stats may not tell the whole story, fans receive an idea of what Capela brings to the table.

On the flip side, the LA Clippers would likely have to give up one of their wings, along with a draft pick. The front office has a good amount of trade leverage with Capela, as Atlanta has multiple big men who can contribute on a nightly basis. This is a massive advantage for the Clippers as they would not have to trade much to attain the glass-cleaning center.

Although the LA Clippers may be able to pull off this trade, one of the biggest concerns with Capela is his fit. He would likely play most of his minutes with Wall off the bench. This duo would dominate opponents as Capela is elite in the pick-and-roll. As a result, Lue can rest his starters for much longer, knowing his bench will make an impact.
