One LA Clippers trade that could be too good to pass up

Since the season opener, the LA Clippers have had their fair share of ups and downs. Although there was a stretch of games where it seemed like the team found its groove, they followed up with multiple sub-par performances. Additionally, head coach Tyronn Lue has had injuries to his roster, causing issues on and off the court.

Furthermore, it may be time for the LA Clippers to make a roster move. The front office must explore the market to see what’s available, whether that is a trade or a free-agent signing. The Clippers may be one of the best defensive teams in the league, but their offensive struggles are holding them back from being at the top of the Western Conference.

As the season continues, one player who has actively been on the trade market is the former second-overall pick, James Wiseman. Trading for the young star would solve the Clippers’ center problems and give Lue another competent big man who can contribute on offense.

In return, the Clippers would not have to give up much. This is likely because the Golden State Warriors have had Wiseman in and out of the G-League. That said, draft picks and possibly a young talent should get the job done.

The LA Clippers should do all they can to acquire James Wiseman.

With the amount of depth the LA Clippers have, key rotational players are missing opportunities throughout the course of the game. Many of these key contributors are young talents who can impact the game in their ways. This leaves the Clippers with only one option, and that is to find a trade partner.

While Wiseman has battled injuries throughout his career, his rookie season showed a ton of promise. Throughout 2020-21, Wiseman averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 51.9% from the field in only 21.4 minutes. These numbers are exceptional, especially considering his limited opportunity with the Golden State Warriors.

If the LA Clippers make the trade, their play on both sides of the ball would significantly improve. Not to mention play-making point guard John Wall would have another lob threat to work with, ultimately resulting in more points on the scoreboard. This trade would also give the glass-cleaning big man Ivica Zubac much less pressure on his shoulders, knowing there is another center who can pose as a force in the paint.

Nonetheless, the LA Clippers should give Golden State a call on Wiseman’s availability. Lue’s developmental staff would also be able to develop the seven-footer into one of the most valuable big men in the NBA. It is only fitting that the front office makes this move happen, as both parties would benefit from the trade.
