The LA Clippers sent out many different combinations of starting lineups this past postseason.
They have a deep team, and found situations where they wanted to use different guys.
My prediction for the 2021-2022 starting five (without Kawhi Leonard) is:
PG: Reggie Jackson
SG: Paul George
SF: Nicolas Batum
PF: Marcus Morris Sr.
C: Serge Ibaka
While that’s the best lineup, there are other deserving players that could step up and man a role in the starting five at any point in the season. Starting with the up-and-coming two-guard, here are three players who could swipe a spot in the starting five come opening night, or any time during the year:
No. 3 player who could break into the LA Clippers 2021-2022 starting five: Terance Mann
Terance Mann entered the LA Clippers starting lineup in almost every game after Kawhi Leonard went down.
Mann performed well in his opportunities, and even was a major piece in closing the Jazz out in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals; going 15 for 21 (7 for 10 from deep) for 39 points.
Mann was so efficient when Leonard went down and he was needed most, as he shot 55.7% from the field and 44.8% from deep in those eight playoff games. He also stepped up on defense, averaging a steal per game.
If the Clippers opt to play small ball, look for Mann to maybe take a spot in the starting lineup. He’s developing very nicely, and has already proven he can get it done in the clutch.
