The LA Clippers have added free agent power forward Mike Scott on a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the LA Clippers have added free agent forward Mike Scott on a one-year deal. The value of the deal is currently unknown.

Scott, a former second-round pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, has carved out an impressive career as a role player in the NBA. Throughout his six-year career, Scott has averages of 7.4 points and 3.0 rebounds across 16 minutes per game. In addition, he’s a 35% shooter from deep, and shot a career-best 40.5% last season.

Last season, Scott played a career-high 18.5 minutes per game, recording 8.8 points and 3.3 rebounds on average.

The 29-year-old forward played in all but six games with the Washington Wizards last season, his first with the team. Previously, Scott played for the Atlanta Hawks for five seasons.

Scott has a very Matt Barnes-esque vibe about him. A perennial bench forward, Scott is an energizer that plays tough basketball. Surely he’ll bring energy and excitement to STAPLES Center.

Assuming Scott’s deal is near the minimum, this is a good find for the LA Clippers. Scott is a solid bench player and is an upgrade over Sam Dekker and Wesley Johnson. Therefore, the Clippers should be expected to release one of either Dekker or Johnson.

In addition, Scott’s versatility will allow Doc Rivers to get creative with his rotations. He should be able to play alongside Montrezl Harrell off the bench, assuming he backs up Tobias Harris. Rivers could also move Harrell to the 5 and play Scott at the 4, creating a smaller, faster lineup.

The Clippers will not be adding Anthony Tolliver as previously speculated, as he was picked up by the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier today. Fortunately for LA, Scott is a solid consolation prize.
