Coming to the LA Clippers would be a bad move for LeBron James

Despite recent rumors that LeBron James could come to the LA Clippers one day, it would be a terrible decision for The King to join the team.

Although he is currently playing out of his mind in the NBA Finals, (averaging a triple double) LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers look like they have hit a wall. So, it would make sense that the rumors would start to pop up that King James could leave yet again and join up with Chris Paul among others. However, joining the LA Clippers would be a terrible move for LeBron.

RUMOR: LeBron James Could Join the LA Clippers

The most glaring reason this doesn’t make sense? If he’s looking to find ways to win titles, why would you join the same division as the main team you are trying to beat. LeBron would have to play against Golden State 4 times a year. He would also be joining a tougher conference. Being in the weaker Eastern Conference has definitely helped Lebron reach the seven consecutive NBA Finals he has been a part of. If he wants a shot at more rings, he needs to stay in the East.

LeBron would also be coming to a team devoid of any cap space. Sure, Steve Ballmer might be willing to spend a little more than David Griffin, but there’s only so much he can do. If the LA Clippers are successful in re-signing both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul this summer, they’ll have most of the cap tied up. Then, DeAndre Jordan will be up for a pay day the same summer as LeBron. Obviously, at least one of these three would have to be moved (most likely Griffin) to even have a chance of bringing LeBron in, but the team still wouldn’t have much, if any, room to operate.

This brings us to the final reason LBJ joining the Clippers would be a bad idea. Why would he hurt his image yet again, just to join a team in a very similar situation? Sure, he’d be helping a new franchise and get to play with one of his best friends, but he has finally gotten back into the good graces of much of the NBA fan base. Why ruin that with another “Decision”?

LeBron, just stay in Cleveland. You don’t have anything left to prove at this point. Keep on coasting through the East and maybe you’ll get some lucky breaks and win another one or two titles against the Warriors. Besides, you’re The King. Your buddies can come to you.
