With 10 points on the evening, the LA Clippers’ Paul Pierce passed Celtics great John Havlicek, and moved into 15th place on the NBA All-Time Scoring List.

The LA Clippers defeated the Houston Rockets 125-96 Monday evening. Despite the Clippers having a four point lead at halftime, a third quarter in which they outscored Houston by 24 ultimately put the game away. With a fourth quarter being led by the bench, we got a little piece of history.

Paul Pierce, who is in his final season with the LA Clippers, passed Celtics legend John Havlicek for 15th place on the NBA’s All-Time scoring list.

Pierce nailed the awkward trick shot to pass Havlicek. Albeit an accident, it’s not a bad way to move into the Top 15 for the Truth.

Tonight’s performance was arguably Pierce’s best of the season. Scoring 10 points, it was his first game scoring double digits. He also knocked down two three’s, which is the third time he has done that this season.

Doc Rivers has played Pierce sporadically throughout the season. However, with the injury to Austin Rivers, Pierce has seen a slight uptick in minutes for the last few games. With no concrete timetable for Rivers’ return, Pierce could see minutes in the first round series against the Utah Jazz.

With one game left in the season, it’s great to see Pierce finding his groove. Who knows, barring some injury, it’s nice knowing he’s still got a little left in the tank.

Oh most definitely. That’s why Doc said he’ll start him in the playoffs. *Wink, wink* All jokes aside, congrats to Pierce on a huge accomplishment.
