The LA Clippers’ second unit is short of consistent three-point shooting and shot creation. Bennedict Mathurin is there, but he is certainly not the answer for the rest of the season; Tyronn Lue may go another few games before starting him. Thus, to fill the void, Bogdan Bogdanovic should be brought back into the lineup. He has the tools, and against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Bogdanovic proved himself in his first game in over three weeks.
In 17 minutes, the seasoned veteran recorded eight points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals, along with a nice, eyebrow-raising three-pointer to close out the first half, which cut the Timberwolves’ lead to just six.

If Lue could have this type of production nightly, why not? Bogdanovic can easily do it, following repeated reps, and it makes even more sense when taking into account the fact that Nicolas Batum’s minutes need to disappear immediately.
Bogdan Bogdanovic should have an elevated role at the next opportunity
Though he is rusty and will need a minute to get back into rhythm, there is no reason for Bogdan Bogdanovic to be out of the rotation when the second unit needs offense; he is literally perfect, with the ability to score at all three levels.
Bogdanovic proved it last year, and he may be inefficient this year, but he is still close to double figures at 7.7 points per game. This is solid, and it can trend upwards if he is given the appropriate amount of playing time.
Furthermore, in the playoffs, the Clippers’ bench will need the most production. Tyronn Lue should ask himself, who is more feasible to be relied on, Bogdanovic, a player with credibility on the biggest stage? Or Jordan Miller, Kobe Sanders, and Yanic Konan Niederhauser, three inexperienced youngsters?
The answer is clear, yet for the Serbian Star to get to a point where he can thrive with the season on the line, he will need time in the regular season to find himself after a number of injuries.
Additionally, because Bogdanovic is in a contract year (team option in the summer), he will have a fire within him, driving his motor towards success; this works out, as the Clippers need a lot of assistance.
That said, it would be criminal for Lue to keep Bogdanovic as a healthy scratch moving forward. He deserves the promotion, and the reward for it could tremendously help the team out at a time when they are most desperate.
