At a 2-0 start, the LA Clippers summer league team is on a roll. Head coach Jeremy Castleberry, who usually assists with the regular season duties of Tyronn Lue, is leading the squad well and has carried the same focus as the Clippers’ star-packed rotation: defensive intensity.

Offensively, Cam Christie and Jordan Miller have been solid, Clippers’ second-round pick Kobe Sanders has shown his build will take him far in the NBA, but someone who could actually be serviceable for Lue next season is the G-League superstar, Trentyn Flowers.

Though he has come off Castleberry’s bench, Flowers has carried an identical level of star prowess he had as a rookie into the summer league. This comes from his pure ability to put on a three-level clinic.

Flowers was elite in game one, recording 13 points and six rebounds in 28 minutes, which ended in a three-point win against the Houston Rockets, led by Reed Sheppard, one of the summer league’s top talents.

However, in game two, Flowers elevated higher, posting 15 points and four rebounds in 21 minutes. The field goal percentage behind his double-digit night is a scary sight for opponents, as he only missed one shot, and that was from beyond the arc.

The rising star also had an eye-opening, eyebrow-raising, two-handed slam, showing he is on a mission to fill in what the Clippers need most out of next season.

Trentyn Flowers is disproving the LA Clippers’ most well-known flaw in the 2025 NBA Summer League

While the LA Clippers’ future had been underdeveloped for years, Jordan Miller, in his second season, had the fan base and experts in the media believing otherwise for a brief moment. But, with the front office waiving him, the Clippers had moved themselves backward to square one.

Well, Trentyn Flowers, who is five years younger than Miller, is shining in the summer league, showing the world that LA has a star, and he is the foundation. Flowers is not scoring as well as Cam Christie, yet the promise is rooted in his impact, touch, and tenacity.

He is currently on a two-way contract, but Tyronn Lue and his staff should maximize his regular-season eligibility of 50 games, allowing him to learn while also utilizing the skills he has developed as a gifted scorer.

Once the veterans are terminated, the coaching staff is renovated, and the rebuild officially begins, Flowers should be one of the main focuses, as he is the current solution to LA’s most prominent concern.
