At the start of free agency, the inside noise was surely kept on the inside, as fans did not know the true reality behind where Russell Westbrook's feet were in free agency. The LA Clippers could have been a suitor, along with some of his previous employers like the Oklahoma City Thunder, but unsurprisingly, both turned their heads the other way when it came to reuniting with the former MVP.

Furthermore, the Clippers preferred Chris Paul, another one of their former guards, while Oklahoma City chose to keep the same faces on the inside to win back-to-back championships.

As for Westbrook, this offseason has been one like no other, as he is no longer in the position he held following his superstar dominance. There are not teams in either conference eager to sign him, hence why the schedule for the regular season has already been published, and his agent is still trying to negotiate a contract.

However, with the offseason ending, fans are wondering exactly why Westbrook is not on a team. This led a credible insider to share how times have changed, and that there is only one realistic option on the table for him at this point in his career.

According to Jake Fischer, Russell Westbrook's only free agent option is the Sacramento Kings

Because of Russell Westbrook's history with the LA Clippers and the mindset he had in booking them a trip to Cancun, fans are constantly checking in on the latest updates regarding his next team. Some thought the Oklahoma City Thunder were an option, as Damian Lillard joined the Portland Trail Blazers in free agency, and so did Chris Paul to the Clippers; however, that door seemed to have never been held open.

Moreover, Jake Fischer recently opened up about Russell Westbrook's free agency reality, mentioning that he has one option or none, and that the Sacramento Kings are the only suitor seriously willing to offer him a contract, with the holdup being the Golden State Warriors' nightmare with Jonathan Kuminga.

This, in a way, is shocking, considering how well Westbrook performed against the Clippers. Nevertheless, in retrospect, he is 36, past his prime, and will soon realize that he should not have declined the player-option that made him a free agent.

That said, Clipper Nation witnessed their team improve this summer, while a former point guard of theirs, who has a bittersweet relationship with the fanbase, is patiently waiting for his next job offer.
