After 25 seasons as a tenant at Crypto.com Arena, the LA Clippers have now officially moved into Intuit Dome in Inglewood. Not only is the new arena state-of-the-art and filled with countless amenities designed to boost the fan experience, but it also belongs only to the Clippers.
It is the first time in the Clippers' franchise history that they have owned and operated their own arena independent of any shared tenants. It was already a massive point of excitement for the entire fan base - leading to massive ticket prices for opening night in October.
But a recent statement from Lakers owner Jeanie Buss should only serve to further the excitement of Clippers fans. Appearing on the Petros and Money podcast, Buss explained how she believes LAC's departure from Crypto.com Arena will only serve to help the Lakers long-term.
Jeanie Buss thinks the Clippers' move will only help Lakers
"I mean, we moved in that building first, then the Clippers moved in and now they’ve moved out," Buss said. "So, nothing’s really changed for us at all. I just didn’t realize how long it was going to take the rest of the league to realize that we have more home games."
Her statement of course alludes to the fact that there were historically plenty of Lakers fans at a Lakers-Clippers game in Los Angeles, even when the Clippers were the designated home team. She goes on to express her gratitude for LAC being gone, because now it means that the Lakers can make more changes to their arena without having to worry about accommodating another team.
Plenty of Clippers fans are probably thinking, "good riddance." For one, Intuit Dome is everything the franchise has ever wanted in a home arena. And secondly, sharing a home court with a rival team had plenty of disadvantages. Leaving behind Crypto.com in exchange for a shiny new home seems like the best deal the team could ask for.
