Clippers fans will not be happy with opening night ticket prices
By Will Eudy
LA Clippers fans have been waiting for years to see their team play a home game at an arena all their own. Not an arena the team leases and has to share with three other professional teams, but one that they can say is theirs and theirs alone.
Well, that dream is finally a reality. Intuit Dome officially opened to the public on August 15, and fans have already been marveling at all the incredible features of the one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art venue. Clippers fans will get to enjoy a top-of-the-line experience every time they attend a home game to cheer on their team.
When the NBA's full season schedule officially released, we found out that October 23 will be the day Clippers fans will pack Intuit Dome for its first ever home game. LA will host the Phoenix Suns that night at 7:00 PM Pacific Time.
Clippers fans will have to pay over $200 to get in the door
However, some new information regarding opening night is less than thrilling, and that is the price of admission. According to Fox Los Angeles, tickets in the 100-level of the lower seating bowl are going for anywhere from $300 to $577 dollars per ticket. There is currently not a single ticket listed online for less than $240.
This is probably disappointing for most Clippers fans, and it feels certain Steve Ballmer is doing his best to make tickets as affordable as possible given his fan-first mindset when it comes to everything at Intuit Dome. However, it is not too surprising given how widely advertised this new arena has been. Fans are obviously excited to get in the building and see what all the hype is about.
Before making the move to Inglewood, the Clippers were able to offer relatively affordable ticket prices to their fanbase. Compared to the Lakers' home tickets, LAC's were a dime a dozen. Now, with a more pristine entertainment experience at Intuit Dome, it makes sense that the prices are up.
Clippers fans that are extremely well-off will likely not have a problem getting a ticket for opening night. But the more average fan will either have to break the bank or consider watching from home when opening night comes around.
