This decision from the LA Clippers' biggest rival was in line with the franchise's tradition of only hanging banners for NBA championships.
The news gave Lakers fans the opportunity to poke fun at the Clippers. Many were saying that the Clippers would definitely be hanging a banner if they had won, whereas the Lakers have higher standards.
But all these jokes from Laker fans were turned upside down with a new announcement on Monday. NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that the Lakers would in fact be hanging a championship banner for winning the In-Season Tournament, contrary to previous reports.
