Elgin Baylor

Remember we said that the Clippers were a longtime punching bag? Elgin Baylor presided over the team throughout most of that period. Baylor is one of the best players in NBA history, but he may be one of the league's all-time worst general managers.

Yet, somehow, he ran the team from 1986 to 2008. What did Baylor accomplish in that large window? Well, he drafted Olowokandi with the number one pick. What else?

In 1987, Baylor’s Clippers selected Reggie Williams with the fourth overall pick. Scottie Pippen, Reggie Miller, Kevin Johnson and Mark Jackson were all on the board. In 1996, they grabbed Lorenzo Wright with the seventh pick over Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.

There’s more. We won’t pile on any further. The late, great Baylor took the game of basketball to new heights through the 1960s. Besides, he’s not the only Clippers GM to leave a stain.
