Towards the end of the offseason, the NBA has gone through a scary roller coaster as far as the chain of events. All was going well until the LA Clippers were brought into the center of attention by Pablo Torre about some grave allegations.

Weeks have passed, and the NBA is still in the midst of its thorough investigation. Many thought this was the climax of the summer, and the rest of the way would just be about training camp and pre-season.

Well, former Clipper guard Patrick Beverley gave the NBA community what could be the most entertaining occasion of the summer.

It started with some basic opinions around Trae Young, a multi-time All-Star for the Atlanta Hawks, and it transformed into something else after the former Oklahoma Sooner responded through a show of his own, called “From The Point”.

Former Clipper Patrick Beverley failed miserably in trying to criticize a four-time All-Star in Trae Young

Initially, former All-Defensive guard Patrick Beverley brought up Trae Young’s name in his podcast to discuss a question about the effort players give to the All-Star game each February. Trae Young responded through a post on X(formerly Twitter), and Beverley escalated things by adding more to his point on his podcast.

Beverley tried to compare their careers side by side, primarily surrounding playoff appearances, and threw in a brief overview of the perception former players of the Atlanta Hawks have of Young based on conversations off the court.

Young eventually posted a nearly 12-minute response video on X, and he stated only facts, which counter every argumentative point Beverley tried to make. This ties into statistics, age difference, and accomplishments, which were the root of the debate.

Additionally, the Hawks’ social media team showed support for their superstar by posting a clip that is over one and a half minutes of Young attacking Beverley on the court, and succeeding, by himself or through his teammates via a pick-and-roll.

That said, Clipper fans love Beverley and everything he did for the culture of Los Angeles, but his attempt to criticize Young is widely seen as a failure. He did make some great points about the value of winning in today’s day and age. Still, overall, the veteran guard was never the first, second, or third option on a playoff team and made a conference finals appearance thanks to Paul George, Terance Mann, and head coach Tyronn Lue.
