When watching the New York Knicks dominate the NBA Finals, and essentially the entire Eastern Conference postseason, something many fans of the LA Clippers can’t help but wonder is whether the current roster has its own version of Jalen Brunson? This has to be an undersized guard who can score at all three levels, make plays appropriately and accurately, and lead. Well, unlike most teams in the NBA, the Clippers do: Darius Garland.

In fact, Brunson and Garland make a similar impact on the game, and beyond that, they are both neck and neck in terms of their measurements; the New York superstar is 6 '2 " and 190lbs, while the relatively new member of the Clippers is 6' 1”, 192 lbs.

And, with Garland being two years younger, there is a ton of hope, as fans admire Brunson’s excellence, that he’ll be able to do the same, one day, in the near future.

Garland has the potential to evolve into what Brunson is for the Knicks

So far, it’s no secret that Jalen Brunson is the face of the New York Knicks’ franchise. That’s a tough position to hold, yet Brunson has it in the bag through his offensive prowess, top-notch voice, and superstar nature, which not many around the association can relate to.

Fortunately, for the LA Clippers, Darius Garland is among the few, and the reasons are clear as day.

Regarding production, what more needs to be said? Garland had a phenomenal start to his tenure as a Clipper, averaging 19.9 points and 6.4 assists, shooting 47.1% from the field and 43.8% from beyond the arc.

These numbers are already great, and with there being more on his shoulders next season, they are bound to improve to a greater extent.

Now, as far as everything else goes, Garland has shown signs that he can play the same role Jalen Brunson plays for the New York Knicks.

The mentality, composure, confidence, and leadership skills are all right there; everyone saw it towards the end of the season, particularly in the Play-In Tournament versus the Golden State Warriors.

All it will take is some more time. Once Garland gets the system down and works with the coaching staff behind the scenes, he’ll be fully unleashed.

That’s when the fanbase will see the best of Garland, who will look extremely similar to the player Brunson is at the moment.
