To win multiple playoff series this postseason and, hopefully, the NBA Finals, the LA Clippers' role players must eclipse predictions, and the superstars should come equipped to thrive in a much different environment while stepping on thin ice.

Given the narrow margin for error, Kawhi Leonard and James Harden will have all eyes on them. They carry the weight of their reputations in the playoffs this season, which could be LA's last dance before a rebuild.

Furthermore, Leonard is widely regarded as one of the most significant playoff risers in NBA history. He has branded himself as a guy who can become an all-star in the regular season with untapped power for a postseason run. The two-time champion did it with the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and his first few years as a Clipper.

However, Clipper fans worldwide wonder whether or not Harden will regress. He does not portray a great postseason narrative, as several of his stints with different teams in the past have come up empty. These were led by an array of abysmal shooting nights from the 11-time all-star.

Given Leonard's proneness to injury, will Harden flip the script or remain the same performer he is known to be?

James Harden's struggles are well-documented and will fold when the game matters most

With the lights as bright as possible, fans must not anticipate multiple series of excellence from James Harden. He has been an offensive generator for the LA Clippers this season, but his efficiency will not magically skyrocket during a race to the NBA Finals.

So far, Harden has averaged 22.5 points in 68 games, shooting 39.6% from the field. This is alarming, but what triggers worry for fans is that he has the highest usage on the team at 29.9%.

As usage will not decrease in the playoffs, Harden's most prominent struggles will be with Kawhi Leonard resting on the bench. He will likely be incapable of upholding the intensive energy from the defense and crowd, causing LA to deteriorate.

Moreover, Tyronn Lue's strategy will involve the ball being under Harden's control, allowing him to use his IQ to read on the fly. Without Leonard next to him, the three-time scoring champion will be destined to fail.

That said, Lue must devise a detailed scheme to keep Harden in manageable situations. He is ultimately a superstar, but the coaches should look for an escape to avoid heartbreak from their best scorer.
