During the Toronto Raptors’ summer league, Jamarion Sharp played phenomenally, particularly on defense. He averaged 2.8 blocks in just 18 minutes, and if we rewind to his G-League campaign last season, Sharp took home the Defensive Player of the Year trophy with a ridiculous 4.1 blocks per game. Despite these impressive numbers, as well as the fact that he’s seven-foot-five, the LA Clippers just opened a two-way spot on their roster by waiving Sharp, who they signed over the summer.
This news comes shortly after speculation has been rising around Ryan Nembhard on the two-way market, sending a clear message to the young point guard that the Clippers would love to have him on their team. The Charlotte Hornets followed through just as expected and officially waived him from their roster ahead of training camp.
Nembhard, along with Buddy Hield and cash considerations, was traded to the Hornets from the Atlanta Hawks.

Because the idea of Ryan Nembhard on a two-way, and ultimately part of the team’s young core, sounds like a dream come true, of course the LA Clippers would love to have him on board. That's why they sent him a message.
Last season, as a rookie with the Dallas Mavericks, Nembhard averaged 6.6 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds, shooting 41.5% from the floor and 35.6% from beyond the arc. These numbers give off the vibe of a true floor general, and somehow Nembhard managed to produce them in under 20 minutes per game.
Want more insight into how ridiculously skilled the former undrafted free agent is as a passer? He recorded 23 assists in his last game of the season, on top of 15 points, nine rebounds, and two steals.
That was his highest tally of the year, but Nembhard had a handful of other high-assist performances as a rookie.
Given that we know Nembhard can facilitate like no other and shoot at a high level, he’s clearly fit to be the Clippers’ backup point guard for the foreseeable future.
And at just 23, he has plenty of time to develop the areas he lacks, like defense, which is mostly due to his size.
That said, the Clippers have ultimately made it clear they want Nembhard. To his benefit, he has an easy path to minutes if he signs a two-way contract with LA.
