Amid a losing scene that has reached 23, James Harden may request a trade. Rumors and trade buzz have left opinions mixed on the former MVP’s desires, and it is simply evident that a superstar, trying his absolute best to win each night but consistently left empty-handed, would ask out.

However, the Clippers, particularly their G-League affiliate located in San Diego, California, took the unconventional route by trading for Hunter Sallis, Harden’s second cousin. This is certainly a reason to get Harden excited, as family ties in the association certainly go a long way.

Thus, LA is where Harden grew up, the city that he considers home, and it has ultimately been a dream come true to play in. Now, he has a relative in the organization, and could share the sidelines with him in the near future, essentially suppressing a trade request from the 11-time all-star’s party.

Hunter Sallis is a great addition who has the potential to help the Clippers

As an undrafted rookie coming off back-to-back exceptional seasons for Wake Forest, Hunter Sallis is waiting for his golden opportunity. The six-foot-four guard was originally signed to a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers and presented prosperity in the G-League with averages of 12.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists, combining the regular season and tip-off tournament, for the Delaware Blue Coats.

Sallis also chipped in during the preseason, shone, and was even called up during the 76ers’ regular season, where he flashed the potential developed over the summer and in the G-League.

Right away, Sallis may not be seen in the Intuit Dome. He will undoubtedly have to work his way up, as handouts are not given, yet the hardest workers and most dedicated individuals are always put in the spotlight, and if everything pans out, the 22-year-old rookie could be learning first-hand from James Harden within the next few months.

There could be eagerness from Harden’s side to practice and execute with Sallis. He has never really had this opportunity, and it may be the only one, as LA’s floor general is 36, and more importantly, could be included in a trade soon.

That said, the San Diego Clippers securing Sallis was wise. It was a win-win trade with the Iowa Wolves that may directly motivate Harden to want to win with the Clippers, and his cousin, who was brought to California this week.
