Throughout the team's post-game interviews last night after the four-point loss to the Dallas Mavericks, most of the players were pessimistic. This is understandable to a certain extent, but James Harden stood out, which exceeded the fine line between normal and concerning, hinting at a trade request he may soon submit to the front office.
The media wanted to know Harden's perspective on the team's challenges thus far. Amid the reporter's question, Harden could sense the type of question being asked, rolled his eyes, looked every which way, and gave short-worded responses.
James Harden on the challenge of integrating players the Clippers didn’t expect to rely this heavily on:

“Challenging.”
In what ways?
“Every way.”

Additionally, Harden seemed exhausted, not entirely from playing 37 minutes versus the Mavericks, but from constantly losing. He simply gave the impression that he was fed up and ready to go home in preparation for Monday night in South Beach.
James Harden will not be questioned if he requests a trade from the LA Clippers
In situations where a trade is requested, it is difficult to alter a player's mind. Each request is unique, and Harden's could correlate to his individual success in the city he loves, compared to the standards and effort he has received from his teammates and coaching staff.
In fact, Harden has averaged 29.8 points, 8.3 assists, and 6.2 rebounds, while playing 13 of the 14 games the LA Clippers had in November. How many did they win? A grand total of two, in which one was sent to double overtime before it ended.
Harden has not been able to sleep at night, peacefully, knowing he was putting his body through thick and thin just to lose. He has been in the same cycle of soreness and physical strain for weeks, yet his chin is always up, ready to work.
Thus, Lawrence Frank should not be surprised if Harden takes matters into his own hands and wants out. He deserves better and will likely receive it elsewhere, as the chance the Clippers actually end the season with something is like a shot in the dark.
Out of respect for all that he has done, Frank should honor Harden's request and send him to one of his preferred destinations. Prioritizing his happiness above all is a first-class move that will have a lasting impression.
That said, the Clippers need a quick turnaround to sway Harden away from choosing the inevitable. This decision feels bound to happen, but there is still time to change his heart.
