Although contract negotiations and calling the front offices of different teams looking to meet may be hectic, the idea of free agency has to be exciting for players of all ages. The risk is there, as they control their own destiny, but that is also the fun, as their dream of playing basketball in whatever city they choose is fulfilled.

While players evidently factor in city life, culture, and even good places to eat before verbally agreeing with executives, family time is make-or-break for some, as there are players in the NBA who have missed this aspect of their life since before they packed their bags and moved out for college.

LA Clippers legend Chris Paul approached teams with his family in mind, above all, and despite interest from opposing teams, the veteran guard described his decision to sign with the LA family in two meaningful words.

Nonetheless, Paul’s wishes were ultimately answered in the end, and that was to be able to come home from a long day of dishing out dimes and getting buckets in the mid-range to spending quality time with his family as a whole.

Traveling around the league is inevitable for road games, but it is easier for Paul to manage his time with family as a priority if 41 games are spent in Inglewood, California. Thus, this answered wish could lead Paul to post a monster season on the Clippers’ bench next season.

Chris Paul could score and assist more than he has in years now that he is home playing for the LA Clippers

To sum up this summer’s free agency for Chris Paul, he is happy, and that could mean a season to remember is in store for fans of the LA Clippers. The math makes sense, as happiness is the answer to any equation regarding success.

Furthermore, Paul did great for the San Antonio Spurs last season, averaging 8.8 points and 7.4 assists. This is commendable, as the Spurs were juggling multiple star guards and Paul was on the cusp of his 40th birthday.

Yet, because his family will get to watch him play up close, and his supporting cast is better, Paul could step back into the double-figure scoring bracket with assist averages nearing ten on the Clippers.

This would be marked as one of the greatest 21st seasons in history, and it will be thanks to Paul acting on his wish to return to Los Angeles.
