Longer-tenured LA Clippers fans have vivid memories of the "Lob City" era. From 2009 when he was drafted until 2018 when he was traded to Detroit, Blake Griffin etched memories into the heads of countless Clippers fans, along with Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan. The trio went to the playoffs six times and won three playoff series together, coming just one game away from the Western Conference Finals in 2015.

Griffin is one of the most beloved Clippers of all-time. His commitment to the organization and four All-NBA selections while wearing the Clipper uniform made him an icon in the city of Los Angeles. Known for his highlight-reel rim-rattling dunks, Blake was good for one mind-shattering play per game in his prime.

Officially retiring from basketball on April 16, 2024, Griffin stepped into a new chapter of his life with a lot of questions. No one was quite sure what he would find himself doing, but with his big personality, it felt certain he would find something of value soon. Now, we officially know what Blake will be doing next.

According to Senior Reporter for Front Office Sports Michael McCarthy, Griffin is in talks with Amazon to fill a "Charles Barkley-esque role" in Amazon Prime's NBA coverage, which is set to begin next season.

McCarthy also reported that in addition to drawing interest from Prime, NBC and ESPN are also interested in acquiring the services of the former Clippers star. No matter where he ends up, we can be certain that Blake will star in his new role.

Of course, we do not know exactly what this analyst role might look like, but based on the description, it sounds like something that will play perfectly into Griffin's strengths. Charles Barkley is obviously known for being funny on top of being a former player and knowing the game, and this is a perfect picture of what Blake can bring to the table as well.

Plenty of Clippers fans recall Griffin's stand up comedy sets that he has done in the past. He is one of the rare cases of a professional athlete that is truly funny and could probably have gone into a career in comedy if he wanted to. No matter where he ends up next, whether with Amazon or another network, we can be confident he will crush his new role.
