In regards to drafting, finding superb talent late in the first round, let alone the second round, is one of the most difficult challenges NBA front offices have to encounter. The LA Clippers are commonly in these dilemmas and have made several solid choices.
One of their recent picks, Jordan Miller, was drafted 48th in 2023. Fans hoped he would evolve in similar ways to former Clipper Terance Mann, as they both initially displayed identical strengths coming out of college.
However, after Miller’s rookie season, he changed his trajectory to a legitimate star. While still a great defender, the former Miami Hurricane solved the toughest puzzle in the NBA: scoring efficiently, consistently, and under control.
Credit goes to Miller and the San Diego Clippers’ coaching staff, who guided him in the direction that elevated his ceiling. Now, he is considered to be a gem that head coach Tyronn Lue will soon maximize.
As the Clippers’ roster has been capped out with role players and stars competing for the NBA Finals, Miller has been forced to spend time in the G-League. He has made the most of his time, and his efforts have officially paid off.
Furthermore, news has been revealed that the Clippers waived their recent acquisition, MarJon Beauchamp, and agreed with Miller on a four-year, $8.3 million contract. Executive Lawrence Frank moved on from Beauchamp to create space for another standard contract.

The LA Clippers secure Jordan Miller, a fan favorite, for the next four years
Jordan Miller’s development, work ethic, and star potential led the LA Clippers to a no-brainer decision to generate space for a long-term deal. He has been thriving for the San Diego Clippers and will soon be seen in the active rotation next to Kawhi Leonard and James Harden.
In 30 games for Tyronn Lue, Miller is averaging 4.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists, shooting 42.9% from the field. These statistics contain a mix of quality playing time and minutes in blowout wins/losses.
In six regular-season G-League games, the former second-round pick has posted 24.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists on 65.0% true shooting. Additionally, Miller has an offensive rating of 119.0 and a defensive rating of 106.2, giving him a net of 12.8.
That said, the Clippers were coerced into waiving MarJon Beauchamp, but it allowed them to lock down a bright, young star in Miller on an inexpensive deal.
