The Los Angeles Clippers have yet to win a championship, but the 2010's decade team, which was known as the Lob City Clippers, may be the best team to never reach the NBA Finals. The roster featured stars such as Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Paul, who re-signed with LA this past offseason, was recently asked about Griffin, via Joey Linn.
"It's dope," Paul said of Griffin's previous message in which he welcomed Paul back to the Clippers. "I hope BG will get out to a game or something this year. DJ, we still talk all the time. Even though JJ (Redick) coach the Lakers I still talk to him all the time. A lot of guys. Matt Barnes, Jamal Crawford, all us are still well connected. So it’s really dope to still have that bond with them guys."
Serious nostalgia
Clippers fans will have serious nostalgia listening to Paul's comments. In addition to the aforementioned stars, the Lob City squad featured a number of reliable role players. Redick earned an opportunity to start and played well as a catch-and-shoot guy next to one of the greatest point guards the NBA has ever seen in CP3. Meanwhile, Barnes brought toughness and played hard on a consistent basis. Crawford is known as one of the best sixth men in NBA history.
As mentioned, those Clippers teams never reached the NBA Finals. Paul has only reached one Finals and has yet to win a championship. However, the 2025-26 Clippers have a promising outlook. CP3 is nearing the end of his NBA career at 40 years old, but winning a championship would be the perfect way to leave the game.
Paul has yet to decide if he will return following the 2025-26 campaign. A championship could make the difference in his decision, though.
Clippers' 2025-26 season
Paul also said that he is hopeful to see Griffin at a game this year -- something that would give fans even more nostalgia. The fact that Paul returned to the team is already reminding the Clippers faithful of the 2010's decade. Now, Paul will be throwing alley oops to Kawhi Leonard and Ivica Zubac.
Los Angeles' next preseason game is scheduled for Sunday, October 12 against the Denver Nuggets. The team will then play the Sacramento Kings on October 15 and Golden State Warriors on October 17 before beginning the regular season in Utah against the Jazz on October 22.
Chris Paul will do everything he can to lead the 2025-26 Clippers to a championship.
