If the Portland Trail Blazers hope to land Kawhi Leonard via trade, the LA Clippers will undoubtedly have a high asking price. Although Leonard does have an injury history, he is without a doubt one of the best players in the league when healthy.

For the Clippers’ front office, chances are more likely than not that all they will have to trade is Leonard due to his talent and max contract. In return, LA should ask for one of Portland’s young stars, a competent big man, and a high draft pick. This leaves both parties with exactly what they are looking for.

Furthermore, the trade will consist of a future superstar in Anfernee Simons, a high-end role player in Jusuf Nurkic, and the third overall pick. This not only meets the asking price of the LA Clippers but also provides guaranteed success for the future of the franchise.

This will also allow the young stars of the LA Clippers to learn from one of the best veterans in the NBA with Nurkic. While he has only been on two teams his entire career, Nurkic has contributed to numerous playoff runs alongside Damian Lillard. In addition, he is a reliable threat on offense despite his health concerns.

Though Simons has the potential to shine in the years ahead, the most significant component of this trade for the Clippers is the third overall pick. This could be a pivotal decision for the franchise, as this year’s draft class has a ridiculous amount of talent. If the front office selects the correct player, they could be in an excellent position for the next decade.
