Is it time for the LA Clippers to feed Brown quality minutes?
By Matthew Morrisey
For the second time in three games, LA Clippers backup center Moses Brown scored in double figures off the bench. Brown had 10 points and 3 rebounds in 11 minutes of action against the Indiana Pacers. While the Clippers were without their superstar duo, the seven-foot big man was able to assist head coach Tyronn Lue in achieving the victory..
Furthermore, the 23-year-old center is slowly proving his value to the team’s success. Though he may have his flaws, Brown is becoming a key fixture off the bench. With the way the Clippers have been struggling at the center position, it may be time to give Brown more playing time.
Although he may not see a heavy workload, Lue and the coaching staff will gradually increase Brown’s minutes as the season progresses. Especially if he focuses on his rim protection, Lue would have no choice but to add to his playing time.
Brown’s contributions must be utilized off the bench for the LA Clippers.
So far this season, Moses Brown is averaging 4.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in under 6 minutes for the LA Clippers. During his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, he was able to put up 8.6 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game through 21.4 minutes. This shows how valuable Brown can be when given quality minutes on the floor.
Moreover, starting center Ivica Zubac is one of the most reliable players on the LA Clippers. However, through an 82-game season, injuries are extremely unpredictable. Based on the way Brow has performed this season, there should be no reason why he is not receiving consistent minutes. In addition, this will ease the load on Zubac, giving the Clippers more life down the stretch.
