The LA Clippers just played two back-to-back games against the Dallas Mavericks, and split the two.
While many may consider that fierce and evenly-matched competition, Marcus Morris Sr. isn’t sold:
Morris is probably right about everything he said. It is still “really on our side” due to us defeating them in back-to-back postseasons.
That being said, Morris was right when pointing out that the Mavs are “playing well” right now, and have been knocking on the door as a potential true contender for a few years now.
Marcus Morris Sr. is a big part of what makes the LA Clippers-Dallas Mavericks matchups so great.
Marcus Morris Sr. has always responded to LA Clipper culture well and has been with the team for both playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks.
As Joey Linn of Sports Illustrated pointed out, he did become the second player in NBA history to have seven or more three-pointers in a Game 7 when he did it against the Mavs last year.
He always seems to shoot the lights out whenever we play the Mavericks in the postseason. He shot 53.7% from the field in the 2020 playoff series against the Clips, and 53.8% from deep. In 2021, he shot 44.7% from three.
Morris and Luka Doncic were both returning from injury in the contest on Tuesday, for what was supposed to be an intriguing and entertaining matchup. That it was, as the Clippers took the Mavs to OT even without Kawhi Leonard or Nicolas Batum playing.
It was a hard-fought game and maybe another playoff preview. We will play the Clippers another two times this year, and both will be in Dallas. Hopefully we’ll get Leonard back by then so we can battle them with a full squad this time around.
