No. 1 goal for Reggie Jackson to become an All-Star for the LA Clippers next year: Improve defensively
Reggie Jackson has been a solid defender for the LA Clippers, but can be even better. He’s never been an All-Defensive selection, and he’s never averaged a steal or more per game since the 2013-2014 season.
Jackson passes the eye test on defense due to his quick feet and hands. He has a lot of energy on the court. He can, however, improve his numbers.
That would make him look much better. The average voter cares about steals and likes to look there to figure how good somebody is on defense. Of course, there are other metrics and factors to look at, but good defensive point guards typically pick up many steals.
If Jackson can get back to stealing a possession once or twice a game, he’ll truly look like an All-Star. He’ll need to nail these other goals too, however.
Paul George will definitely be an All-Star this year, but there will likely be no Kawhi Leonard at the game of course. Jackson has the best shot to make up for his presence at the All-Star Game.
