LA Clippers: 3 keys to Terance Mann’s development
By Evan Desai
The LA Clippers have a chance to really develop Terance Mann next year in Kawhi Leonard’s absence.
Mann really took his game to another level in the postseason, and even had a 39 point performance in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals to close it out after Leonard went down. He went 15 of 21 from the field, and 7 of 10 from deep, highlighting his scoring potential. He had a couple steals in that game too, proving he can have a lot of success as a two-way player.
Mann is entering his third year in this league, and has a very bright future. There are a few keys to getting him to that next level, and the Clippers can make it happen.
No. 3 key to Terance Mann’s development for the LA Clippers: Small ball
Terance Mann flourished in his opportunities last year when the LA Clippers played small ball.
Those lineups that were guard heavy, and oftentimes didn’t start a center really helped Mann play to his highest potential.
Playing with smaller lineups allows the team to funnel many opportunities for Mann as a shooter, and he’s a great shooter at that. He shot 43.2% from deep in the postseason last year. He also shot 51.9% from the field in the playoffs, which is huge for a shooting guard.
Also, playing small forces opposing centers to leave the paint empty. This is where the Clippers had a lot of success vs. the Jazz and Rudy Gobert. It allows two-guards like Mann to slash and get inside easily. Mann is set up for huge success in small lineups.
