Keeping Reggie Jackson with the LA Clippers was a must for this franchise.
The fact of the matter is, the Clips would not have gone to the Western Conference Finals without Jackson. He was as clutch as it gets in the postseason.
Jackson is going to play a major role with the team this year as the starting point guard, and he can even take his game a step further. If he wants to accomplish that, he’ll need to follow this blueprint.
No. 3 goal for Reggie Jackson next season: Average at least six assists per game
One thing Reggie Jackson could have been better with last season for the LA Clippers was his playmaking as a passer. He still did a good job, and he is a good passer. He’s better than the 3.1 assists per game he put up this season, though.
Even in the playoffs where he really elevated his game, he still only averaged 3.4 assists per game despite running the point most of the time.
I’m not asking Jackson to go above and beyond, but to simply get back to where he once was as a facilitator. He’s averaged six assists per game in a season before. He absolutely can get there, and with all of the repetition he’s going to get from the start of the season as a one, he’ll have the chance to be there.
Jackson has overachieved in the past, and this is another spot that would be very beneficial to his career if he could overachieve again.
