When the LA Clippers sent three players over to Memphis for Eric Bledsoe, we all wondered what life without Patrick Beverley would be like.

Now that the trade has settled, it’s a bit easier to look back and really analyze what losing Bev would really look like for the team.

Beverley was an important piece to the Clippers. The Clips needed to clear roster space, and had to clear some room in the backcourt. There are still some downsides to this move, however:

No. 1 disadvantage to the LA Clippers trading Patrick Beverley: The loss of a team leader

Patrick Beverley was one of the top culture-setters on the LA Clippers.

This is a new Clippers team than the team Eric Bledsoe was on. It’s a new era, and Beverley was one of the top Clipper players to lead that change.

Beverley is a high-intensity, high-energy guy that bleeds Clipper colors. One of the most active trash talkers in sports, Beverley always embraced challenges.

He always went all out, and was often seen playing with a lot of emotion on the floor. He was never afraid of any defensive assignment, and really proved his worth on defense in the Western Conference Finals.

The team often had their backs against the wall, but Bev’s insistence on putting ball pressure and slowing down the Suns’ backcourt proved that he would never back down. His teammates always seemed to embrace Beverley and his dedication to the franchise. That presence is tough to overcome.
