No. 1 free agent the LA Clippers need to stay away from: Andre Iguodala
Andre Iguodala could have fit really well with the LA Clippers earlier in his career, but now isn’t the time.
One might think that Iguodala could be a good fit for the Clippers while Kawhi isn’t around. I get that due to his incredibly strong defensive resume. The two of them are the only players who have won NBA Finals MVPs due to their stingy defense of LeBron James.
However, Iguodala made over $14 million last year, which is even less than his club option that’s worth 15 M’s. If the Heat turn down the option and he wants something close to that, the Clippers would be paying him a lot of money to be 37 years old and play very poorly on offense.
And yes, that’s who he is. Iguodala has averaged 6.8 points per game since the 2013-2014 season, and never eclipsed 10 or more points per game.
He hasn’t hit 34% or more of his threes since the 2016-2017 season, and just doesn’t bring enough offensively for the Clips to pay around 14 or 15 million bucks for him.
This free agency situation for the LA Clippers needs to be all about value, and these three guys just don’t provide enough for their price.
