With draft season on its way, trade season will be upon us even sooner for not just the LA Clippers.
The whole league is going to be buzzing with players moving on and off the trade block, and this pre-draft period is the best time to take advantage of that.
The Clippers had a great roster this year, but have been speculated to move off of some pieces this offseason. A few of them are picking up steam in those trade speculations, and the Clips could move off of them soon.
No. 3 LA Clipper that could be traded before NBA Draft: Patrick Beverley
Patrick Beverley has had so many great moments for the LA Clippers in his career.
He proved that he can still play great defense in the Western Conference Finals, so teams will be interested. The Clippers may be interested in moving off of him, however, due to him struggling to defend bigger guards earlier in the postseason.
It’s not that they don’t like him, or that he’s not useful. He’s a three-time All-Defensive Team selection. That being said, he hasn’t held up against certain matchups. If the Clippers can retain Reggie Jackson this offseason, the need for Beverley wouldn’t be as great if they can get good value in return for him.
Recently, Virgil Villanueva of Clutch Points wrote about two trade ideas involving Beverley. One was where the Clippers send Beverley and Ivica Zubac to the Pacers for Myles Turner and Justin Holiday.
The other was even juicier. It was a trade where the Clippers receive Kevin Love and Collin Sexton, and send Beverley, Zubac, and Luke Kennard to the Cavs along with our first-round pick.
Villanueva doesn’t realistically see these trades happening, but thinks the Clippers should make one or the other happen. The Clips haven’t tipped their hand about trade ideas, but Beverley is a logical trade piece for the team.
