LA Clippers: 2 free agent targets who played for Ty Lue
By Evan Desai
The LA Clippers and Head Coach Tyronn Lue will likely be looking at one of the best rosters in the NBA come next season.
Even if Kawhi Leonard does miss significant time next year, the Clips won Games 5 and 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals to win the series without Claw last year. They’ll have a strong, and deep roster for Leonard to plug himself back into when he’s healthy.
The Clippers still have some work to do this offseason, especially depending on what happens with Reggie Jackson.
Jackson would clearly like to stay with the Clips, as he even cited them as to “saving” him. It would be crazy to think that the Clippers don’t want to bring back Jackson as well.
His playoff performance this year made Jackson one of the most valuable players on the Clippers this season, and we would not have made the Western Conference Finals without him.
That playoff performance will make him a hot commodity on the free agent market this offseason, however, and there will be lots of competition to re-sign him.
If the Clips can’t seal the deal and ink him to a new contract, there are two other point guards who played good playoff basketball as well, and could potentially lessen the blow of losing ‘Mr. June.’
These two point guards have experience playing under Lue, and that chemistry could make them attractive to the Clippers.
Lue will certainly have a say in how this offseason goes, so don’t be surprised if he takes interest in picking one of these guys up.
