The LA Clippers have largely disappointed in the first two games of the NBA Postseason.

The LA Clippers are down 0-2 to the Dallas Mavericks in this first round, despite having home court in both contests.

Luka Doncic has been sensational, Ty Lue is catching heat, and the Mavericks are nailing seemingly every three they take.

That being said, a series is never over until it’s over. It’s going to be quite the uphill climb to get back in and win this series, but there are three reasons for optimism heading into Dallas on Friday.

#1 reason why LA Clippers fans should still have hope: It’s been done before

There are teams in NBA history who have dropped the first two of a seven-game series at home and came back to win it.

In 1969 the LA Lakers did it, in 2005 the Dallas Mavericks did it, in 2017 the Boston Celtics did it, and in 1994 the Houston Rockets did it and then went on to win the NBA Finals.

In the series where it happened most recently, the Boston Celtics had a much lesser roster than what the Clippers have now. They only had one All-Star in Isaiah Thomas. The Clippers have two, in Paul George and Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard is a top five player in the NBA, and the Celtics certainly didn’t have that. Also, the Clippers have one of the deepest rosters in the league. They’re not just top-heavy with those two stars.

The 2017 Celtics were a number one seed, but were playing in a lesser conference than what the Clippers played in this year, and didn’t have some of the most injuries in the NBA during the regular season like the Clippers did.

When it comes to talent on the roster, the 2017 Celtics were a less-talented team that has dug itself out of this kind of hole. It’ll of course take a lot of digging for the Clips, but it can absolutely be done.
