Paul George has had one heck of a season. We all know the way last year turned out and the promises that he made coming into this season.

So far, he has delivered. George was nominated as an All-Star reserve by the coaches for his performance this year.

Since he’s now in the All-Star Game during his comeback season, Paul George should go for the game MVP.

No, the trophy doesn’t have any real meaning for most players. For George though, it would be a good indicator of just what he has accomplished so far this season.

It wouldn’t be an easy win, however. Obviously, the All-Star Game is absolutely stacked with talent and any single player on the roster is more than capable of winning the game. George would have to go out and play out of his mind, especially considering he likely won’t get as much time as a reserve player.

He may have a little more time, however, as it was announced today that neither of the Philadelphia 76ers stars, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, are available to play after COVID-19 contact tracing. Simmons was selected by Team LeBron, the same squad as George. With no time to find replacements, each team will be without one player on the roster.

It would also be nice to see him be the second member of the LA Clippers in a row to win. Last season, Kawhi Leonard won the award after knocking down eight three-pointers in route to scoring 30 points in last season’s game.

Again, winning the MVP award is ultimately meaningless but something that could serve George very well as he tries to continue his stellar play this season. Winning that award amongst his top peers could do wonders for his mentality entering the second half of the season.
