Paul George told us that this season would be different. After a poor performance in last year’s bubble playoff environment, George was mocked (unfairly) and fans around the world seemingly forgot just how good of a player he was.

George spoke with anyone who would listen and explained that the time he had missed to start the season rehabbing both of his shoulders combined with lack of team chemistry and mental well-being issues in the bubble all contributed and that this season would be better.

He didn’t lie.

The LA Clippers’ Paul George has been named an All-Star reserve.

No, this wasn’t the ultimate goal but it’s great to see George acknowledged for his accomplishments so far this season.

George, in 22 games so far, is putting up 24.4 points on an incredible 51.1% from the field (47.1% from deep and 89.4% from the free-throw line), a career-high 5.5 assists, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks.

Nearly averaging a 50/40/90 split on a good volume of shots (16.5 per game) while also putting up career-high assists is nothing to scoff at. Ty Lue has entrusted PG with a lot more playmaking and while his turnovers are also up this season, it’s apparent what his playmaking brings to this LA Clippers’ team.

George will join teammate Kawhi Leonard, who was voted in by fans as a starter for the Western Conference. Both players will be part of the annual draft as teams are selected by captains LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

With PG just coming back from an injury, we can’t say he will for certain play in the All-Star Game. As far as we know, he is still on a minutes restriction and the break could afford him some extra time to rest up.

The All-Star Game will take place on March 7 on TNT. Unlike normal years, this year will feature the skill contest and three-point contest prior to the game with the dunk contest happening during halftime.
