Don’t forget that the LA Clippers have moved in silence the past few years.

Everyone loves the NBA offseason. It is a time filled with enough player movement to make your head spin. Every team gets involved and fans look forward to following the breadcrumbs that pop up on social media. This rings especially true for teams like the LA Clippers that seemingly are just a piece or two away from winning a championship.

Over the past week or two, all sorts of rumors have popped up. There were rumors that the Clippers wanted to get Russell Westbrook after he became upset with how things were shaking out in Houston. Then, there was news that not only did the team have an interest in acquiring Chris Paul but that Kawhi Leonard himself asked for him.

It’s important to remember the keyword in all these reports is “rumor”. We obviously have no actual confirmation that any of these reports are true. In fact, given how widespread they are, I am actually inclined to not believe it simply because this team has been so quiet over the past few seasons.

It started back with the Blake Griffin trade that shocked everyone. The front office evaluated their position, found a trade, and executed it before any hint of a rumor even popped up. A year later, the same thing happened with Tobias Harris going to Philadelphia.

Last offseason, granted, the team’s pursuit of Kawhi Leonard was pretty public but the trade that accompanied it to bring Paul George seemingly came out of nowhere. This front office just does not show their hand.

I bring this up mainly because I have seen one “rumored trade” circling around the past couple of days involving Westbrook. The deal would have him along with Robert Covington and a draft pick comes to the Clippers in exchange for Paul George. For what it’s worth, that money doesn’t even work out. Still, it doesn’t seem like the Clips would want a deal like that made so public. And yet, it circles around social media and people eat it up.

Look, I can’t debunk anything. I have just as much insight as the next guy. But before you start retweeting and sharing unsourced claims, just remember how the LA Clippers operate.
