The LA Clippers reportedly kicked the tires on a Dennis Schroder trade.

As the LA Clippers continue their offseason search to upgrade their roster, we are finding out that they are exploring every option possible. The team is in need of a point guard, specifically a playmaker. In searching for such a player, the team reportedly kicked the tires on a Dennis Schroder trade.

This rumor comes from Eurohoops but Schroder himself is the source. The deal doesn’t seem to have any legs as Schroder says he has no desire to leave Oklahoma City to join a contender.

"“Yes, I have received offers. But I never wanted to go to the Lakers, the Clippers or all the names that may have called my agents.”"

Schroder has one year left on his deal with the Thunder where he is set to make $15 million. OKC figures to be an extremely active team on the trade market as they fully commit to rebuilding. Chris Paul is likely out after having a career year, leaving more room for Schroder to play. He will likely play alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as OKC grows their youth.

While Schroder doesn’t seem like a likely target at this point for the Clips, it’s nice to know that they are exploring every option possible to address the point guard position. Patrick Beverley is still a more than solid player but the team needs someone who can be a better playmaker.

There have been reports that the team has had an interest in various players including trading for Jrue Holiday, signing Rajon Rondo, or even managing to acquire Russell Westbrook. There will be no shortage of available guards to the team but most options will have to come via trade.

The Clippers will have to find and commit to a move quickly with the NBA Draft coming up on November 18 and free agency set to start just two days later. This quick offseason will be tough for all front offices, but especially for teams like the Clippers who are looking to perfect their roster in order to make a championship run.
