LA Clippers: Would this superstar trade for Paul George make sense?
If the LA Clippers were to move Paul George, would this deal make sense?
After their loss to the Denver Nuggets in the second round, LA Clippers’ owner Steve Ballmer was furious and demanded big changes. One of those changes was the firing of Doc Rivers. What other ones could happen? Many have brought up roster changes including looking at moving Paul George after he struggled at times in the playoffs.
Does this mean a trade is imminent? Probably not. The Clippers gave up a lot of assets to acquire PG at the request of Kawhi Leonard. Unless the team clears moving PG with Kawhi, don’t expect a big move. Then again, we said the same thing about Doc…
With that in mind, Bleacher Report actually put out one trade idea that the Clips may have to consider should it become a real offer. Would this make sense for the Clippers?
The trade
Bleacher Report’s whole premise in this article deals with trades that could happen but are still out there.
"“While there are bound to be plenty of minor moves, we’re focusing on (somewhat) realistic deals that would leave fans extremely surprised.”"
In this hypothetical “shock the league” deal, the Clips deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, another team with championship aspirations but questions surrounding their composition.
It’s a straightforward two players for two players deal. The 76ers get Paul George and Ivica Zubac while the Clippers get Joel Embiid and Josh Richardson. At first glance, that seems fairly reasonable, right? Let’s get more into it.
