LA Clippers arrive in Orlando, Kawhi Leonard stays home
The LA Clippers with the exception of Kawhi Leonard arrived in Orlando Wednesday.
The LA Clippers are now on the East coast. On Wednesday, the team departed Los Angeles and arrived in Orlando where they will join the rest of the NBA in the bubble to finish out the 2019-20 season. Kawhi Leonard, however, did not travel with the team.
The news was broken by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. According to Haynes, the team allowed Kawhi to stay behind to attend to a personal family matter prior to joining the rest of the group in Orlando. Don’t worry Clipper Nation, he’ll be there when it matters.
Landry Shamet also did not join the team but that was known prior to their departure due to him testing positive for COVID-19. Shamet is asymptomatic and will join the team after he has isolated for 14 days and tests negative.
The team will have to stay in their hotel in Disney World over the next couple of months as they pursue their first ever NBA Finals title.
Point guard Patrick Beverley seems ready to embrace the bubble, offering fans a tour of his new room via his Instagram.
Beverley looks to be set up with his PlayStation 4, sage, and other various items he brought along. The most notable item though appears to be an enormous stack of Polo t-shirts that he has claimed he will sell to others who run out of clean tees while in Orlando.
With the team now officially in Orlando, Clipper Nation can look forward to the start of the NBA season. The team is scheduled to start their “preseason” scrimmages on July 22 when they face off against the Orlando Magic.
Just eight days later, the team will take the court to face the Los Angeles Lakers in a prime-time matchup to help restart the season.
