The LA Clippers and the rest of the NBA had their Orlando schedule revealed.
The NBA has finally put out the schedule for the resumption of play in Orlando. The schedule features two games on July 30 to get everything started, one of which will feature the LA Clippers.
Each team will play eight regular-season games in order to sort out seeding for the postseason. The Clippers can use this time to secure their position as the second seed in the Western Conference, setting up a possible Western Conference Finals matchup versus the Lakers.
Speaking of the Lakers…
The LA Clippers and Lakers will play each other in the first game of the season resumption.
Obviously the league wanted to start these eight games off with a bang, scheduling a double-header on TNT on the 30th. The first game will feature the Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans, followed by the Los Angeles matchup. This mirrors the start of the year for both teams where they were the primetime game to start off the 2019-20 season. While it will be highly anticipated, so much time off means fans of both sides should temper expectations and not read too much into it.
The whole eight-game schedule is as follows (all times Eastern):
- Thursday, June 30 at 9:00 PM – Los Angeles Lakers
- Saturday, August 1 at 6:00 PM – New Orleans Pelicans
- Tuesday, August 4 at 4:00 PM – Phoenix Suns
- Thursday, August 6 at 6:30 PM – Dallas Mavericks
- Saturday, August 8 at 1:00 PM – Portland Trail Blazers
- Sunday, August 9 at 9:00 PM – Brooklyn Nets
- Wednesday, August 12 at 9:00 PM – Denver Nuggets
- Friday, August 14 at TBD – Oklahoma City
As you can see above, the team does have one back-to-back on August 8 and 9. Otherwise, the schedule seems pretty fair and obviously there are no travel issues.
The team will head down to Orlando on July 3, where they will begin their isolation. The NBA has put out pages and pages of rules for teams to follow and we can now officially start the countdown until the season begins.
