As they search for ways to improve their roster, it is now being reported that the LA Clippers have interest in Kris Dunn.

The LA Clippers have reportedly expressed interest in Chicago Bulls point guard Kris Dunn. This report comes via the Chicago Sun-Times. What’s different about this report is that while the team may trade for him prior to the February 6 deadline, they could also be potential suitors during free agency this summer.

This isn’t the first Chicago Bulls player that the team has had an interest in either. Thaddeus Young has been one of the Clippers’ reported targets and on the chance that the team does decide to move Montrezl Harrell at the deadline (this is only an assumption), Young could fit in well with the bench unit.

A potential trade for the duo of Dunn and Young would look something like this:

Maurice Harkless is the obvious candidate to be moved in any deal. Jerome Robinson would be tossed in to give the Bulls another prospect added to their young core.

Dunn would fit in extremely nicely with the bench unit, giving them a high-level defender. Despite only getting 25.2 minutes per game, Dunn is currently tied for third in the league with 2.0 steals per game. His versatility would be a nice addition to the bench unit as well. Chicago has used him to play point guard and both wing positions.

At nearly 26-years-old, Dunn would also be a restricted free agent this summer. If the Clippers truly are enamored with him, trading for him now and gaining the ability to match offers this summer could be extremely valuable as they keep consistency year to year.

He won’t provide a ton of scoring, averaging just 7.3 points per game. He’s not a great shooter from deep, connecting on only 26.2% of his attempts (30.7% on his career). Still, he was able to average double-digit points in his previous two years so he’s not a complete black hole on the offensive end.

A trade for Dunn and Young is an interesting prospective move. The LA Clippers likely need to make a move or two in order to solidify their roster in order to make a championship run.
