Three LA Clippers players set a record Sunday. Paul George, Lou Williams, and Montrezl Harrell became the first trio to score 30+ points in team history.

During the LA Clippers’ 135-132 win over the New York Knicks, a franchise record was set by Paul George, Lou Williams, and Montrezl Harrell.

The trio became the first in franchise history to score 30+ points each.

This franchise record could not have come at a better time. After a disappointing loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, the Clippers needed to pick up a victory versus the Knicks.

George, who did not play in the loss Saturday, came out firing early. He scored 12 points in the first quarter on an efficient 4 of 7 shooting. He also knocked down a pair of free throws.

Harrell scored 8 of his team-high 34 in the first but it was the second quarter where he and Lou Williams came to life. The duo scored a combined 32 of the team’s 47 points in the second. George continued shooting well, adding in another nine.

George and Williams finished with 32 apiece while Harrell tied his career-high of 34. It wasn’t just the point total that impressed so much though. None of the three shot less than 50% from the field for the afternoon. The Knicks just did not have an answer.

If this trio can play near this level on any given night, other teams have to be worried especially considering this happened with Kawhi Leonard on the bench in street clothes. The Clippers have a superstar duo to get them started with an elite duo to follow right off the bench.

Although I can nearly guarantee we never see it, the team has the potential to set a record again with four players scoring over 30 points apiece.

Next. Why Clippers fans should be excited for the next decade. dark

This record has to feel good for the trio given how much they needed today’s victory. The Clippers don’t play again until Friday when they host the Golden State Warriors where these three will have another chance to light up the scoreboard.
